The Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is sponsoring a “Building Your Brand: High School and Beyondworkshop on Sunday, June 24, at           4:00 p.m. at the Hampton Inn, located 117 Sandhill Drive, Middletown, Delaware.

This program is designed as a moving up/graduation celebration and workshop for rising high school freshmen males who reside in the Middletown, Odessa, Townsend, and Delaware City areas.  The program is an introductory component for EMBODI (Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence), a national initiative of the sorority.  Data suggests that the vast majority of African-American males continue to be in crisis and are not reaching their fullest potential educationally, socially and emotionally.  EMBODI is designed to address these issues through a focus on STEM education, culture, self-efficacy, leadership, physical and mental health, healthy lifestyle choices, character, ethics, relationships, college readiness, fiscal management, civic engagement and service learning.

The primary goal of the Building Your Brand: High School and Beyondworkshop is to encourage young men to build positive personal relationships and academic brands as they prepare for high school and subsequently college.  The program will also provide participants with the necessary steps to employ successful brand building.  We will have local leaders such as Mr. Kevan Turman, The Brothers Brunch serving as speakers and panelists to help guide the young men.
