SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION CHECKLIST

Use the checklist below to ensure your application packet is complete and eligible for consideration. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
A complete application includes:

Submitted and signed application form (by student applicant)

Signed Media Release Statement

Must be signed by a parent/guardian of the applicant

Official high school transcript

An official college/university acceptance letter
-
Essay (2 page maximum) or video response (3 minute maximum) highlighting your community service, leadership activities and college/career goals.

One (1) letter of recommendation on professional letterhead from any of the following individuals:

Activity/Club Advisor

Coach
-
Community Leader
-
Employer
-
High School Counselor, Teacher or Administrator
-
Minister
-
Volunteer Coordinator

Letters of recommendation from family members will not be accepted. All letters of recommendation must include the following information:

The length of time the recommender has known the applicant
-
A description of the applicant’s personal qualities
-
A description of qualities that demonstrate the applicant’s ability to persevere and succeed in college
Completed application packets must be received by March 13, 2026.


Scholarships are available to graduating African American high school seniors in the service areas of the Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter, which are: Middletown, Odessa, Townsend, Clayton, Port Penn, St. Georges, and Delaware City.
The Ethel Cuff Black Scholarship for books and materials, have an average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
