The Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is proud to celebrate the launch of H.E.R. Space at Everett Meredith Middle School (EMMS) as part of our May Week 2025 programming. This meaningful collaboration with the EMMS Girls With Goals Club reflects our ongoing commitment to uplifting and empowering young women through intentional acts of service, support, and sisterhood.

Formally unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 5, 2025, H.E.R. Space is more than a physical location. It is a safe, supportive environment where girls can access essential hygiene products, nurture their self-confidence, and feel connected to a community that champions their well-being and success. Open to all EMMS student visitors, this space was designed to promote personal care, inspire resilience, and reinforce the belief that every young woman deserves dignity and encouragement.
H.E.R. Space is rooted in our sorority’s dedication to physical and mental health, educational development, and community empowerment. The carefully stocked closet not only meets practical needs but also serves as a resource that helps girls learn the importance of caring for themselves both inside and out. Whether they are in need of supplies or simply seeking a moment of peace and connection, H.E.R. Space is here for them.
We extend heartfelt appreciation to Soror Teresa Harris-Miller, whose collaboration with EMMS school counselors and Girls With Goals facilitators brought this vision to life. We also recognize and thank the members of the Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter for their generous donations, which stocked the H.E.R. Space closet. Their contributions helped to ensure that every girl who enters the space feels valued and supported.
In addition to internal support, we are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our external partners. Bright Dental contributed dental hygiene products to help students care for their smiles and overall health, which reinforces the connection between physical health and self-esteem. Herr’s Food Inc. generously donated snack items, adding a thoughtful and comforting touch to the space. These contributions not only met tangible needs but also sent a clear message to our girls: the community sees you, supports you, and believes in you.
H.E.R. Space is a lasting part of our May Week celebration. A reminder that when we invest in our girls, we invest in our future. We are honored to continue our legacy of empowering youth through purpose-driven programming and intentional service.
