The Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. proudly launched the new Sorority year with a strong showing at the annual Middletown Old Tyme Peach Festival on Saturday, August 16, 2025. This long-standing community event provided the perfect backdrop for our chapter to engage with families, share our programs, and connect with new supporters. With vibrant energy and sisterly spirit, 22 Sorors dedicated their time throughout the day to ensure our booth was both impactful and welcoming.
From the very start, the community responded enthusiastically. Visitors stopped by to learn more about our mission, our programs, and the ways in which Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. serves. We were thrilled to welcome new community members who subscribed to receive future chapter communications. The excitement was palpable, and the highlight of the afternoon came when the winner of our school supply gift basket raffle was announced. Their joy reflected the warm sense of community that makes the Peach Festival so special while also underscoring the importance of supporting students as they prepare for the academic year.
One of the biggest attractions at our booth was the Kids Craft table, which invited children—and in many cases, their parents—to take part in a fun, hands-on activity. The craft was more than just entertainment; it was thoughtfully designed to align with the Sorority’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrusts, reinforcing our commitment to educational development, physical and mental health, and family engagement. The laughter and creativity shared at that table turned our booth into a hub of activity and connection, and it was heartwarming to watch families linger, participate, and engage in conversations with our Sorors.
The Middletown Peach Festival was more than just a community gathering; it marked the beginning of a Sorority year filled with promise, purpose, and opportunity. The chapter’s active presence at the event reflected its ongoing commitment to uplifting the community through service, sisterhood, and social action. By offering hands-on activities for children, resources for families, and opportunities for connection, the Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter created a space that was both fun and meaningful.
As the Sorority year unfolds, the energy and engagement demonstrated at the Peach Festival will serve as a foundation for future efforts. This “Peachy Community Connection” showcased how intentional service and outreach can inspire, educate, and strengthen bonds within the community. The chapter looks forward to building on this momentum in the months ahead, continuing to serve with impact and illuminate the mission of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
