On Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., hosted the Delaware Statewide Founders Day Celebration at the Deerfield Golf Club in Newark, Delaware. This event commemorated 112 years of sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action, honoring the legacy of the Sorority's 22 visionary Founders.

The success of the celebration was made possible by the dedicated leadership of the event's Tri-Chairs: Lashon Brown-Woodman, Sherri Hollis, and Ruth Mathis-Tucker. Their meticulous planning and unwavering commitment ensured a memorable and inspiring event that honored the Sorority's enduring legacy.

The evening commenced with Valencia Brown, Esq., Past Delaware State Coordinator and member of the Middletown Alumnae Chapter, serving as the Mistress of Ceremonies. Following the Parade of Presidents, Reverend Tyheshia Davis, Chapter Chaplain, delivered the invocation. Warm welcomes were extended by Ruth Mathis-Tucker, Founders Day Tri-Chair, and Joy Hunt, Host Chapter President. Greetings were also shared by esteemed guests, including Jordan Johnson, Delaware State Facilitator; Charlotte Barnes, Delaware State Coordinator; Amina Cuascut, Eastern Regional Representative; and Dr. Marie-Carmel Durandisse Pressley, Eastern Regional Director.

Attendees enjoyed a dinner accompanied by entertainment, followed by a poignant video tribute titled "Delaware Deltas: Forward with Fortitude—Engaging our Sisterhood, Empowering our Communities, & Elevating our Impact." The highlight of the evening was the keynote address delivered by Rosie Allen-Herring, Immediate Past Eastern Regional Director, whose inspiring words resonated deeply with all present.

The celebration's theme, "Timeless Radiance: Honoring our Past, Illuminating our Future," underscored the enduring legacy of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the ongoing commitment to advocacy, empowerment, and transformation. As articulated in the program's welcome letter, members were reminded of their duty to carry forward the mission of Delta with renewed energy and steadfast dedication to service.

The Middletown (DE) Alumnae Chapter, chartered in 2014, remains dedicated to the Sorority’s traditions of Sisterhood, Scholarship, and Service, striving to make a difference in the lives of residents in Middletown, Odessa, Townsend, Port Penn, St. Georges, Delaware City, and Clayton through volunteerism, advocacy, public service, and social action. This Founders Day celebration served not only as a commemoration but also as a rededication—a call to action for all members to continue advocating for the voiceless, educating the underserved, and uplifting communities in need. The journey continues, and together, the sisters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., will illuminate the path forward.
